Not sure if your dish is even being used?

You're not alone. Most homeowners don't know — the dish stayed on the roof long after the service was cancelled or the house changed hands. This quick check will tell you.

30-Second Check

Is your dish still in use?

Most people genuinely don't know — the dish stayed on the roof when service was cancelled, or it was already there when they moved in. Answer four quick questions and we'll tell you.

1Is there a satellite receiver box plugged in near any of your TVs?

A small black box (DirecTV or Dish branded) wired to the TV with its own remote. If you only see a streaming stick, smart-TV apps, or a cable box, the answer is no.

2If you pay DirecTV or Dish — which type of plan is it?

DirecTV now has two completely separate products. DirecTV Satellite requires the dish and a receiver box wired to your TV. DirecTV Stream is just an app — same DirecTV bill, no dish involved at all. If you switched from a technician install to watching on an app or smart TV, you are almost certainly on Stream.

3How does your household actually watch TV day-to-day?

DirecTV Stream and YouTube TV are streaming — no dish. Only the old receiver-box setup uses the dish.

4When did anyone last actually use that physical dish on your roof?

Think about the receiver box specifically — not DirecTV Stream, not any app, not cable. The actual dish.
